We did the math for you

I was reading the news this morning and found that 29 8th graders decided to pay for their lunch with pennies and landed themselves in two days of detention. Here's the line from the story I liked the most:

"CBS 2 HD did the math …

"Each student brought in 200 pennies. Multiply that by 29 you get close to 5,800 pennies."

Well thank you, CBS 2 HD. I now have a confirmed approximately accurate answer to a question which only arose from your not telling me that lunch was $2.
