Bowling for Burgers

We've started to go bowling on Monday nights since it's cheap, easy, gets us out of the house, we're normally the only people there, and the kids love it.

I asked a while back if we could let the kids go back to the back to see how it all works, and last Monday they let us. The kids had a blast. They got to see how the ball gets separated from the pins, how the pins get carried up to the top, how they get placed in the right positions, they got to hear how loud it really is when the ball strikes the pins, it was a really good tour. I guess it probably helped that the guy giving it knows our kids by now and enjoys them.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to brag about my boys. They decided a few Mondays ago to give up the bumpers. Gutter after Gutter after Gutter and they keep going. They're improving a lot... they're almost to the point where they're hitting a couple of pins a frame. They got a little discouraged in the beginning when their scores plummeted, but after reminding them that they were not competing with their sister who uses bumpers, or with their parents who have been bowling for a while, but that they're competing with themselves, they decided that they'd work to beat themselves each time we go out.

I'm so proud of my boys.
